Description

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the exhibition (Omani Civilization: Origin and Development) was inaugurated today at the Sharjah Archeology Museum of the Sharjah Museums Authority, in the presence of His Excellency Salem bin Muhammad Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, and His Excellency Jamal bin Hassan. Al Musawi, Secretary General of the National Museum, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Arab Emirates, and His Excellency Manal Ataya, Director General of the Sharjah Museums Authority.

 

 

 

The exhibition sheds light on a variety of artifacts spanning different periods of time from the human and cultural heritage of the Sultanate of Oman, starting from prehistoric times (125,000-300 BC), the Stone Ages, the Bronze Age, and up to the Iron Age, including the most prominent The stations of the Magan Civilization, the Wadi Suq period, in addition to the Iron Age, which includes the Dibba treasure, the archaeological site of Salut, the Al-Safa treasure, the Samad period and the beginning of the Islamic era.

 

 

 

The exhibition also includes a section of the Omani heritage sites registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List, such as the sites of the Land of Frankincense, the Omani falaj system, the sites of Bat, Al-Khutm and Al-Ain, Bahla Fort, and the ancient city of Qalhat. The exhibition links the past and the present, through contemporary holdings that show a close connection between the lives of Omanis and their surroundings, while shedding light on the emergence and development of traditional craft industries. Examples of this are the emergence and development of the Omani dagger and its patterns, ornate decorative patterns and symbols, as well as other cultural manifestations.
